Nigeria boasts of currently, and arguably all time, the best crop of musicians in Africa… dare I say the world too. Everyday, we hear and see them breaking records, touring and setting milestones in the music industry. This causes a soft or loud debate on who the richest musicians in the country are. If you have been in one of the debates before, gather your co-debaters around and read this. I have put together a list of the top 10 richest musicians in the country. Let’s begin.
At the top of the pile is Davido. The self acclaimed (and indeed true) OBO is guessed to have a net worth of about 9 billion Naira – kill me now. Kindly note that the amount stated above is based on his music career alone, because you know I know we know that he is worth way more than that. Davido is currently the richest musician in Nigeria.
A close second is the Star Boy himself, Wizkid, also known as Ayodeji Balogun. StarBoy has amassed wealth from the numerous hits, performances, awards and views his music has gotten in the 9 odd years since he started. This puts him second with a net worth of 8 billion Naira.
3. Don Jazzy
By craft, he is a music producer. But after numerous features where he gave some of the best hooks you will ever hear (Endowed, Without my heart), it is safe to call him a musician. CEO of Mavin Records, Don baba J, known to a select few as Michael Collins Ajereh is 3rd on the list with a net worth of 7.5 billion Naira.

Like his Jamaican friends call him, Skibanj comfortably occupies 4th place with a net worth of 6 billion Naira. This is a product of the success he got from his four studio albums, two compilation albums and an endless number of mega-hit singles. Talking about his achievements and awards will require a whole new article.
5. Tuface Idibia (2Baba)
In my (not so) humble opinion, 2baba is Nigeria’s second greatest musician of all time – behind to only the legend, Fela. Just when you think he has gotten to his twilight, he comes with a new song, style, concept and he tops the charts for a period of time. With over 10 evergreen songs to his name, it is safe to call him a legend in the Nigerian music scene. Tuface Idibia is worth 5.9 billion Naira.
6. Peter Okoye
Rudeboy made a name for himself as part of a now defunct group “P-Square” along with his twin brother Paul. He was the performer in the group. With many tours, awards, endorsement deals and hundreds of hit singles, Peter Okoye is in the top 6 with a net worth of 5.8 billion Naira.

7. Paul Okoye
Polite boy (Mr P) makes up the other half of P-Square and he was the singer in the group (no disrespect to Rudeboy of course, but Paul was the better singer). Surprisingly, he is worth a little less than his brother despite being in the same group and having his own endorsement deals and shares from the group success. Paul Okoye is worth 5.6 billion Naira.
The king of dance-hall music in Nigeria and arguably Africa, Egberi papa 1 of Bayelsa has given Nigerians songs to last an eternity. Plantain Boi still gets me on my feet. Timaya has six albums to his name, with a lot of singles sandwiched between them. He is not married (quite surprising) but has two children with his baby mamas (not surprising). His net worth is an estimated 4 billion Naira.
Oluwabankole Wellington, Mr Capable, Mr W, Wizkid’s destiny helper, oko Adesua, am I missing any names?
A multi faceted artist which a track record in singing, rapping, acting, talent management, entrepreneurship to mention a few, I find it strange that he is not ranked higher on the list. Still, the “Strong Thing” creator boasts a net worth of 3.5 billion Naira.
10. Olamide & Flavour
Gentlemen and Ladies, we have a tie. With a net worth of 3.2 billion Naira each, Olamide Adedeji and Chinedu Okoli both sit with half a backside on the tenth spot. They both have a combined 11 albums, both studio and compilations, and endless, endless, number of hits ranging from rap to highlife, RnB and dancehall.
So, here is a list of the top 10 richest musicians in Nigeria:
- Don Jazzy
- Tuface Idibia
- Peter Okoye
- Paul Okoye
- Banky W
- Olamide and Flavour
