She’s arguably one of the richest female artistes in Nigeria. Tiwa Savage is loved by many and respected by all due to her consistency, romantic vocals, pedigree, jaw-dropping gorgeousness, and an ever scintillating stage performance.
Tiwatope Savage was born on February 5, 1980, in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State. Tiwa Savage parents raised their daughter in the multicultural home. When she was eleven years old, the mother of the musician, Cecilia Savage, and her father have moved away to London. Savage graduated with a degree in business administration from the University of Kent and started working at The Royal Bank of Scotland.

Tiwa was married to Tunji Balogun also known as “Tee Billz” since 2013. They were blessed with a son together in 2015 but their marriage did not work. Their marital crisis began in 2016 as Tee Billz made their issues public and wanted to commit suicide by attempting to jump into the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos. He then went through rehabilitation by a seasoned lifestyle coach, Lanre Olusola. She is a mother of one: a son; Jamil Balogun. Jamil was born on 1st January 2015.
While attending high school, she was a trombone player for her school’s orchestra band. She did backup vocals for George Michael at the age of 16 and lent vocals to other musicians such as Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli, and Ms. Dynamite, among others. Furthermore, she performed on stage with Sting, 50 Cent, The Black Eyed Peas, Eminem, Robbie Williams, and Destiny’s Child, to name a few.
2012 was marked with Savage joining the new label of Don Jazzy, “Mavin Records.” The compilation album of this label called “Solar Plexus,” which came out in the same year, featured Tiwa as one of the leading singers and many other musicians. Along with this, Tiwa Savage was working on her first album, which she started working on back in 2010. She also networked together with some fellow Berklee College of Music alumni. The début album of Tiwa Savage was teased to include the recordings in her native language. The singer still had enough time and energy for appearing on the records of the other artists. For example, her vocals have been featured on the Flavour N’abania collaboration “Oyi Remix,” which the two artists worked on together in 2012. Before collaborating with this artist, Tiwa Savage recorded this song and released the version of her own.
On 2 May 2019, Universal Music Group announced the signing of Savage. It was also revealed that she left Mavin Records. Efe Ogbeni of Regime Music Societe and Vannessa Amadi-Ogbonna will be responsible for executive producing all of her projects under the label. Savage’s future music will be released through the label’s operations in more than 60 countries.
