Nigerian politics is operated within the restrictions of the presidential, democratic and federal representatives, where managerial authority is exercised by the government. Political parties have been operating in the country for a very long time. In fact, the first sets of political parties were established in 1959.  The first set of political parties in Nigeria were:

  • Northern People`s Congress
  • National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons
  • Action Group

According to the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there are 68 registered political parties in Nigeria presently.  With the elections set to happen in a few months, here is the full list of all political parties.
