Funke Akindele is a Nigerian actress, film producer, scriptwriter, and entrepreneur. She is popularly known as ‘Jenifa’, a character she played in a movie titled Jenifa. Funke Akindele has carved out a niche for herself in the Nigerian entertainment industry with the way she fondly interprets her roles which she has extended to her own soap opera ‘Jenifa’s Dairy’.
Funke Akindele was born on August 24, 1977, in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria. She attended Grace Children Schools, Gbagada and Lagos State Model College, Igbo-Kuta for her primary and secondary education. She is the second of three children (two girls and one boy). Her mother is a medical doctor while her father is a retired school principal.
Funke married Adeola Kehinde Oloyede on May 26, 2012, and they divorced in July 2013 citing irreconcilable differences. She remarried Abdul Rasheed Bello, known as JJC Skillz in London in May 2016.
Funke Akindele came to limelight after featuring in popular United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) sponsored sitcom — I Need to Know, which ran from 1998 to 2002. She played Bisi, a curious but highly intelligent secondary school student. She came to limelight, she has appeared in more than 100 movies such as A Trip to Jamaica along Ayo Makun (AY), Atlanta, , Agbara Ife, Isoken, Omo Ghetto, Aje Meta alongside Odunlade Adekola, Maami and of course the very popular television series “Jenifa’s diary” which stars the likes of Lolo, Falz, Fisayo Ajibola, Aderounmu Adejumoke and Juliana Olayode also known as Toyo Baby.
She runs a non-governmental organization known as THE JENIFA FOUNDATION, whose aims and objectives involves nurturing talents and acquiring vocational skills. She has won many awards for her efforts which include:

- Best Actress in a comedy movie or tv series at Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (2017).
- Best Actress Africa Collaboration at 2016 Ghana Movies Awards.
- The sitcom of the year for Jenifa’s diary at Naija FM Awards (2016).
- Best Ambassador of the year at ELOY Awards (2014).
