Ayodele Richard Makun popularly known as AY Comedian is a multi-talented, multi-award winning Standup comedian, and one of the most successful comic acts Nigeria has produced and the second richest comedian in Nigeria, behind only to Ali Baba. He comes across easily, as Nigeria’s most creative comedian as he has proven himself as an established authority as a Compere, Stand-up Comedian, Radio and TV Presenter, Promoter, Producer, Actor, Director, Writer, and Event Manager. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Corporate World Entertainment (convener of AY Live).


A.Y was born on the 19th of August, 1971. He is the oldest of seven children. He attended Delta State University, Abraka and graduated after nine years. He started pursuing a career in showbiz while still in school, he soon became the most popular theatre arts student he bagged many campus awards.

Ayo Makun attended Delta State University, Abraka. He graduated (after spending nine years) in 2003 as a theatre arts student. A.Y also won other awards such as the most fashionable student on campus (1999 and 2000); best show-biz promoter (2001); the most celebrated student on campus (2001) and the Jaycee Club socio-personality award in 2003.

Ayo Makun married Mabel, CEO of Midas Interior in 2008 and they are blessed with a beautiful daughter, Michelle Makun. AY has six siblings, two boys, and four girls. One of his brothers, Yomi Makun known as Yomi Casual is one of the A-list fashion designers in Nigeria.


Ayo Makun has always been into showbiz since undergraduate days. A.Y launched and hosted shows like Miss Delsu, Miss Delta and many more. Ayo Makun came into the spotlight after being Alibaba’s personal assistant and event manager. A.Y also wrote going “A.Y wire” as a guest columnist in The Sun and Gbenga Adeyinka’s “Laugh Mattaz”. Then he started getting recognition and started being mentioned in the same sentence as the Basketmouths, I Go Dyes and Gordons of the world.

The AY brand also publishes Nigeria’s first comedy magazine, and the hosts (across the country, too) the usually out-sold comedy and music concerts, AY Live. AY Live holds an enviable quadruple record-breaking title on the attendance to its annual concerts in Nigeria and London. In 2007, he held Lagos spellbound when the second edition of AY Live, Lagos Invasion drew a record crowd forcing him to do two shows instead of one, as planned. Two years later, the similar feat was reenacted in Nigeria’s Federal Capital City, when AY Live, Abuja Invasion stood Abuja still and becoming Abuja’s most attended entertainment events, ever.


AY’s net worth has grown much in 2018. His net worth is estimated to be in the range of about $ 7 million.
