Alexander Chuka Iwobi was born 3 May 1996 is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Arsenal and the Nigeria national team.


Alexander Chuka Iwobi was born on May 3, 1996, in Lagos, Nigeria. His father, Chuba Iwobi, played amateur football and was a lawyer by profession. Alexander was very close to his sister, Marie, and his uncle, Jay Jay Okocha, who is a former professional footballer. The family was well to do financially. Iwobi and his family relocated to Turkey when he was two years old. Two years later they moved to England to be with Jay Jay Okocha. Alexander was brought up in an east London estate near Bolton Wanders from where he did his schooling.
He became good friends with Tyrell Robinson, with whom he started playing football in the neighborhood of his home. Both boys went on to become professional footballers. While Iwobi played for Arsenal, Tyrell grew up to play for Bradford City. They remained in touch with each other as their respective careers progressed.

Alex Iwobi is currently single, however, he was before in a relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Clarisse Juliette, UK based model. The couple started their love life in 2013, however, they couldn’t continue their relationship and separated after four years. The former couple had shared many pictures of each other on their Instagram. But after a separation, they deleted those pictures from their social media. His former girlfriend Clarisse also accused him of cheating on her on the popular social media platform called SnapChat.


At the age of 8, Alex Iwobi joined the Arsenal while he was in a primary school. On July 1, 2012, Iwobi joined the Arsenal U-18 where he played until 2014. Moreover, he played a year for Arsenal U-21 team. His first match came with the Youth team of Arsenal as an unused substitute in a League Cup against West Bromwich Albion in September 2013. In October 2015, Alex Iwobi signed a five year deal with Arsenal. He then made his Premier League début against Swansea City replacing, Mesut Ozil. His first Champions League match came against Bayern Munich as a substitute.

He scored his first Champions League goal against Basel of Switzerland. So far, he has scored 7 goals in 56 appearances. On 27 October 2015, Iwobi made his first-team début for the club, starting in a 3–0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the Round of 16 of the League Cup. He made his Premier League début four days later in a 3–0 win against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, as a stoppage-time substitute for Mesut Özil. Iwobi made his Champions League début as an 85th-minute substitute in a 5–1 defeat against Bayern Munich. Iwobi started in the first team for the 2015–16 FA Cup 3rd and 4th round home wins against Sunderland and Burnley.
